Photo outing

Since the visibility was rather good ( yay no more haze), ScubaSteve, Joons, and I decided to go to KLCC to take some photos.. It's not everyday that we enjoy such clear, somewhat blue skies.

So, I was busy snapping when I suddenly notice a guy talking to ScubaSteve...

The guy was apparently looking for unsuspecting tourist to con them into buying a fake Rolex watch. He claimed that he got the watch from a gambler whom drives a 1 door Merc, yes only 1 door, at Genting.

I must give it to him that he was very persistent, and wasn't bothered that I was taking his photo.

And today, forgetful me left my notebook adapter in the office. So, I went to the office to collect it. Since I was there and was free for the afternoon, I decided to take some shots of the building.

The one where I have to make a decision

I am once again in a turning point of my life, where I have to make stupid life decisions, which needless to say, I am not good at it. I always end up taking the wrong step. Why can't it be as easy as picking an Ipod off the counter?

hmm Ipod 30gb or Ipod 60gb? or Canon 350D or Canon 20D? No brainer rite? I have always been a sucker premium gadgets as long as it's 'afforable'.

I wish that I'm 8 years old again, where things were much simpler and all I had to do was to memorize my timetables.

Yay, I've made it

At first, I was kinda paranoid that my car was underpowered to drive up to Genting. I had 4 other adult passengers in my car and while driving on the NKVE, it felt rather sluggish.. Naturally, I was worried that the engine would overheat cause I remember seeing Mercedes, Accords and other high powered vehicles overheated, but nontheless, I was determined to put it to the test. So to other Jazz vtec 1.5 owners out there, no problem lah, although I did floored it at parts of the hill and the engine did feel like it was dying, it would be very nice to have a K20A engine then.

That's not haze, it's just thick fog.

We headed straight to the outdoor theme park, and got on to the Spinner. I felt a little queasy after that ride cause it kept going only one way. I ended up leaning towards my right after that.

Next was Space Shot.

It was going up really slowly, as though it was teasing us.. I looked around to enjoy the view from above, and suddenly BOOOOOOM, it dropped free fall and my heart felt like it had stop beating. Too bad it only lasted like 10 seconds, cause the adneralin rush was superb. Not for the faint hearted though.

This is their latest attaction, The Flying Coaster, but after going on the Space Shot, i thought that it was rather tame, and i had to pay rm10 for it. rip off.

For the first time in my life, I tried rock climbing. It was easy for the first 10 meters, but as you go higher try not to look down. I think it was designed such a way that, the higher you go, the harder it gets.

I am trying to recall what was going through my mind, and it was something like this. The whole climb lasted a total of 5 minutes(i think).

I strapped on the gear and went straight to the wall, with my 11 year old cousin next to me. The first few steps wasn't too bad, as I could get a decent grip to pull myself up. I thought to myself, okay.. this is not too bad.. it's much easier than it looks. Then, came mid point, my hands got tired, and I couldn't find a place to put my legs. Shit. I knew I stuck. I looked over to my cousin and he look like he was having a jolly good time, as though he was going for a stroll. Then I remembered the lady whom was at the bottom, supporting my weight. Shits, if I let go now she definitely cannot support my weight, you know the sea-saw effect and we will be both left hanging in mid air.. oh nooo., what have i got myself into this time, AGAIN. Then, Amazing Race came barging into my mind, I think it was season 6, the last leg of the race which was rock climbing, one of the Bowling Mum was stuck at there.. Like her, I seriously wanted to abort the climb. It wasn't fun anymore. I looked over to my left again, and my little cousin was way ahead of me this time... Obviously this couldnt be happening, all the hard work at the gym is not helping me out.. I looked up, hoping that someone would be hiding over there, and would just pull me up. Naturally that didn;t happen, and suddenly, I saw this tiny little thingy, grabbed it, and took the next step, and the one after that. The thing that you use to hold only got smaller and smaller until at one point, you can only use your fingers to support your whole body, and in the end, I made it to the top! Satisfaction 100%.

When I got down, I was told that,
  1. my little cousin has been many many times for rock climbing
  2. the wall that I was climbing was supposedly harder than his
  3. the person down there do not support your weight, not sure what mechanism they use
  4. it's not as easy as it looks, respect to the extreme wall climbers, they must have really strong fingers.
  5. use the momentum and try not to stop, if not, you will end up using more energy
If you had the chance, I suggest that you try it too. It's really all about the technique. Perhaps Mt.KK? Bring it on.

The missing dog

I saw this poster infront of my house about a missing dog.

If anyone has seen the dog, please contact the owner, they must be terrified. I am not really a dog lover, so can't tell you what breed it is, but I think it's a poodle.

Some facts about Haze

A is for Air Pollutant Index. This index measures the major pollutants in the air. A reading of more than 100 will cause health problems.

B is for brisk. Shops have been reporting brisk sales of masks and air purifiers.

C is for carbon monoxide. This is what Malaysians have been breathing in abundance for the last few days.

D
is for dire straits. This is what is going to happen if the dry spell continues. Not only will water rationing become a reality but the suffocating pall of smoke will stay with us until October.

E is for enlightened. That word describes the Cabinet decision to make public the API readings. This is the first time the Government has released the API in six years. It had stopped revealing the index in 1999, saying such statistics scare away tourists.

F is for forest fires. Raging fires in
Sumatra and Riau are the main source of the haze here. The bad news is that the fires in Riau are expected to get worse as thousands of hectares of forest land is cleared through burning to make way for oil palm plantations.

G is for gamble. The authorities will gamble on cloud-seeding if there is no rainfall in the next few days.

H is for health. Exposure to haze increases the possibility of eye irritation, sore throat, breathing difficulty and upper respiratory tract infection. API levels above 400 may be life-threatening to ill and elderly people. Clinics are reporting a 150 per cent increase in asthma attacks.

I is for ignorance. It is unbelievable that
Malaysia is not better prepared to combat peat fires. The fact is that many of the country’s peat swamps have been drained for housing, oil palm plantation and logging. The result is that peat soil becomes bone-dry and combustible.

J is for jeopardy. Fun-filled week of school holidays for many Malaysian schoolchildren are in jeopardy if the dry spell continues. Forget about spending hours under the sun chasing the football. Time to learn to play chess.

K is for
Kuala Lumpur International Airport. The airport will remain open unless visibility drops to 300 metres.

L is for lucky. That is how to describe the people of Johor, Kedah, Penang, Kelantan and Perlis. They have been spared that muggy feeling because the South-Westerly wind — which is sending the haze here from Indonesia — passed them.

M is for meet. Environment Minister Datuk Adenan Satem and Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities Datuk Peter Chin Fah Kui have been directed by the Cabinet to meet their Indonesian counterparts in
Jakarta as soon as possible. They want to draw up a plan to resolve the haze problem in the immediate and long term.

N
is for nightmare. That is what the haze season is for tourism, outdoor food outlets and sporting activities.

O is for open burning. All forms of open burning have been banned in
Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Selangor, Pahang, Negri Sembilan, Malacca and Perak. Those found guilty face a RM500,000 fine, jail term or both.

P is for postponement. For the first time in 45 years, the Malay Mail Big Walk will be postponed. The event was scheduled to be held this weekend at Dataran Merdeka.

Q is for quiet. That sums up the Indonesian response to the haze situation. There has been precious little information from
Jakarta on the extent of the problem or whether any help is needed to put out the raging fires.

R is for respite. Form Three students will get a respite from their trial examinations.

S is for schools. Once the API level breaches the 400 mark, all schools will be closed. For the moment, though, the discretion to send students home lies with principals.

T is for tips.Malaysians should drink more water, cut down outdoor activities, wear protective masks and refrain from smoking. Those who are ill or elderly should stay indoors.

U is for is for unhealthy. Seven areas which recorded unhealthy levels of air quality yesterday were Gombak (200),Tanjung Malim (205),
Kuala Lumpur (276), Nilai (174), Country Heights Kajang (185), Seremban (137) and Jerantut, Pahang (131).

V is for visibility. In several areas in the
Klang Valley, visibility was down to less than one kilometre. In Petaling Jaya, people could only see for up to 300 metres .

W is for why. Why is
Indonesia — the main source of haze in the region — not a signatory to the Asean Transboundary Haze Agreement? This agreement makes it compulsory for countries to respond promptly to a request for information on haze or other forms of pollution.

X is for x-ray. There will be a steady stream of Malaysians heading to hospitals this week to get x-rays done on their upper respiratory tract. Clinics and hospitals have reported an increase of between five and 13 per cent in the number of patients suffering from lung infection.

Y
is for Yes. Yes to more vigilance around peat forests here. Yes to increased enforcement. Yes to car-pooling and using public transport. Yes to more days of blue skies and fresh air.

Z is for zero. That is the number of hours police outriders on the Prime Minister’s detail worked yesterday. Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi gave them a day off, concerned that they would have to inhale all the smog.

Go go go! Fire in the hole!

The Arena

Sharil, our Hitman in army clothing.

And the aftermath..

Bruise on my right knee. Too bad it wasn't red paint or it would have been more dramatic.

Last Friday, me and my colleagues went for a paintball outing at NPNG sports center. In total, I got shot 3 times. Once on the chest, and one on each leg. It's an experience that I have never encountered before, the feeling of dying. I know its a bit far fetched, but, you really feel like you are in a war zone, and someone starts shooting at you, and you see the pallets coming your way, the feeling is as real as it gets.

The theme was to capture the enemy's flag, and return to base, safely. Our team managed to win 3 out of 4 times, thanks to our hitman Sharil. The reason why we lost the last round was because he ran out of pallets. Apparently before he joined our company, he used to be involved with the army, not sure how he ended up in the SAP field.

According to the marshall, as long as you wear your headgear, Paintball is one of the safest sport created by men as compared to other sports like ballet, scuba diving and etc... , cos there wont be any permanent damage or scars, just minor bruises. We'll see in 2 weeks time.

The Reason

And the reason is youuuuuuuuuu... and the reason is youuuuuuuuuuu.....

okay, i better stop with my rantings..... you know who you are..

Just got back from Cream to celebrate ScubaSteve and Patso's birthday. It's been a good 2 months since we had our last session but this time was kinda special. Kokadooadoo and his chickadee joined us which was somewhat a rare occasion. Anyhow, liquor was of abundance and we never fail to have fun with the boyz together.

Okay, my head is still spinning from the alcohol that i consumed. Here are some pics.

ScubaSteve taking the flame

okay, over and out.

The one with the Identity Crisis

Introducing, the coolest, the hippest, the meanest Toyota Avanza cum Daihatsu Move! The owner must have been contemplating on both cars and decided to go with the Avanza with the Move's badge and funny looking tail lights.

Took this shot on the way home from gym. Not too bad for a 2mp camera phone eh?

The one with the Farewell Dinner

I had an unofficial farewell dinner with a colleague of mine. At the rate it's going, people come and go faster than the Malaysian Mega Sale. It's definitely a bad sign, and doesn't reflect well on the company. But then again, that's the nature of a consulting firm, high turnover rate. I wonder when will it be my turn.

Ok, back to the dinner, we had dinner at Sushi King at Sunway Pyramid.. There was a couple ahead of us in the queue, but somehow the guy got pissed at the waitress.. Not too sure why, but they left, which was good for us cause we are next in line. His lost.

I had a kinoaoashi temorau bento bonto... ok, I dont really know my japanese meal, but I did take a picture of it, and it was M11 on the menu.

Thanks to the LimboLombo for the dinner... I really enjoyed the company. It was supposed to be me buying her a farewell dinner but she treated me instead. Hopefully you will like the new working environment and progress further in your career..

Names have been left out to preserve anonymity.

On another note, that picture was taken with the k750i. I am quite impressed with the colour and the . Looking at it makes me hungry all over again.
